About the Area

The Old Stag's Head provides an excellent base from which to explore the lovely country and seaside villages of the area, as well as the hills and moorland, gardens and other features of the region.

OUR BLACK AND WHITE B&B SIGN IS EASY TO SEE.

A prime local attraction is the West Somerset Railway, which can offer a leisurely and delightful day's outing from the principal station at Bishop's Lydeard, to Minehead - or any point in between. On board refreshments are avilalbe and interesting 'Special Trips' occur throughout the year. Free parking is available at Bishop's Lydeard Station.

The region offers much else, ranging from lovely walks directly on the the Quantocks, to day trips to a host of interesting places - which might be as close Dunster Castle and Village or Hestercombe Gardens or farther afield to Cheddar Gorge, Wells Cathedral, Glastonbury Tor, Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, Forde Abbey, Exeter Cathedral. Alternatively, The West Somerset coast: Blue Anchor, Watchet, Minehead, Porlock, Lynmouth, or the East Devon coast: Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth, etc...

To round off the day an evening meal may be enjoyed close by, at:
